A Revolutionary Rider

Listen, and you shall hear …
… about a fake Paul Revere riding through BG for a commercial TV shoot

By JUSTIN STORY, The Daily News

“Paul Revere arrived in Bowling Green on Thursday, but instead of a midnight ride, he went on an afternoon jaunt that shut down parts of downtown.

Of course, it wasn’t actually the 18th century American patriot, but an actor, Travis Ellis, playing Revere and riding a horse through downtown for a TV commercial shoot.”

As we start our revolution against the common-place practices of big banks, we enlisted the help of our own Paul Revere. He has set forth to notify the people that Independence Bank is here and we are ready to stand up for you and make things right. We will defy the standard conventions of our industry and treat you like an individual with your own particular banking needs.

The Revolutionary Rider commercial was shot in Bowling Green, Ky. on March 18th, 2010. Filming began at sunrise on Fairway Street as the horse and rider “rode into town” in an open field and then through a neighborhood, jumping homemade hedges and foam core stunt fences along the way. We actually hired a landscaping specialist that lived in the neighborhood to repair any damage that the horse caused to the lawns during the run.

This hedge was made up of several bushes in pots covered by mulch.

The real gate was replaced by this stunt foam core gate in order to keep Gus safe if he missed his jump.

After lunch, the cast and crew moved into downtown Bowling Green, where the horse ran through the streets with a camera car close beside him. Local actors were used as extras in Fountain Square Park and at the courthouse, and WBKO interviewed a local merchant in the park. As Paul Revere, local horse trainer Travis Ellis arrived at the Courthouse and nailed the Declaration of Independence Bank to the door for the crowd to see.

This is the shot as the rider is running to post the Declaration on the courthouse door. These doors were made of blonde wood to resemble an 18th century courthouse since the real doors to the courthouse are glass.

Look for this commercial beginning on April 5th.
