A Declaration of Independence
When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one bank to step forward and break itself from the unethical and widespread trends of its industry. Today, the employees of Independence Bank have declared it is time to take action.
Independence Day is a day we, as Americans celebrate our freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, family gatherings and fireworks. It is the day that commemorates our country’s adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. This is day that marks our legal separation from Great Britain during the American Revolution.
The birthplace of this freedom started at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. It was in the Assembly Room of this building that George Washington was appointed commander in chief of the Continental Army in 1775 and the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776. In the same room the design of the American flag was agreed upon in 1777, the Articles of Confederation were adopted in 1781 and the U.S. Constitution was drafted in 1787.
It was Independence Hall that provided the inspiration and the name for Independence Bank. I was on vacation in Philadelphia with my family when my daughter, Lauren, remarked how Independence Hall looked like a bank. The rest is history.
We now find ourselves leading our own revolution in banking. It all started when we got all of our employees together to draft our own Declaration of Independence Bank. We are not necessarily revolting against something, but we are fighting to keep our industry great. We promise to always do what is right and keep the American spirit alive in our revolution.
On this Independence Day, I ask that you remember what freedom is all about. Remember what makes this such a great country. And remember all of those that fight to protect our freedoms.
