“Every time a bell rings an Angel gets its wings.” What a great ending to the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  I recently read an article that hypothesized how the story would end if it were played out today.  It predicted that...
  • Martini’s Bar filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy
  • The builder in the Bailey Park subdivision got caught in mortgage fraud
  • The examiners put Uncle Billy in jail even though the money was replaced
  • George is fired by the board only a month before the Bailey Building and Loan closes but receives a $5,000,000 Golden Parachute severance

Building Dreams Into Reality

“The highest reward for a person’s work is not what they get for it, but what they become because of it.” – John Ruskin

Last week while working with the Martinez family on their home, the father Joe asked me, “Why does Independence Bank participate in Habitat Homes?” I answered without hesitation, “Habitat helps dreams come true – together we build homes - not houses. You and your family helped on previous Habitat homes, you have all worked very hard on your home and you will help out the next family and perhaps othersread more...
